Rufus is regularly instructed as prosecuting and defending counsel in Crown Courts on the Western Circuit.

His experience includes substantial VAT and Excise frauds as well as sex, drug and violent offences at all levels. Junior counsel to the Attorney-General’s panel of Prosecuting Advocates List C (London and S.E. Circuit) in 2002 and List B (Western Circuit) in 2006. His practice includes Courts-Martial and Sea Fishery prosecutions.

He was appointed a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2009.

Operation Fawley - Led Junior (prosecution)
in a case involving allegations of neglect against the owner and manager of a residential home of sixteen mentally incapacitated residents under their care.

Operation Orr - One of three standing counsel prosecuting cases involving indecent images of children.

R v Lewis and Others - Second Junior (prosecution)
in an alleged MTIC fraud (loss to HMCE was over £100 Million.)

R v Matthews and Others - Led Junior (defence)
in a 6 handed Conspiracy to Defraud. Petrol rebate claims by Poole fishermen.

R v Mohammed and Others - Led Junior (defence)
in an alleged 4 handed (cut-throat) murder within the Kurdish Community.

R v Mouzourou - The twelfth defendant in a Conspiracy to Import/Supply drugs
