Richard has a developing practice in regulatory crime including:
P v X & CM - industrial accident, lady run over by a forklift truck, suffering de-gloving of her foot and traumatic amputation of several toes. Company were prosecuted in the mags and fined £20,000 for breaches of H & S Regs. Now being pursued in the civil courts for £100,000 + compensation.
A v R - nervous shock claim arising out of an explosion in a scrap metal merchants in Dorset which killed two people and was witnessed by A. Multiple breaches of health and safety, allegations against the defendant of perverting the course of justice.
M v Wessex & Ors - acted for family at inquest of M, killed by a forklift truck while delivering goods in Romsey. X-examined pathologist, accident reconstruction experts and police. Subsequently acted for family in £100K settlement of civil action for breaches of H & S law.
R v B - defending in a prosecution for multiple breaches of environmental law - allowing fly tipping on land.
R v C - prosecuted breaches of planning law relating to new buildings.
Richard has also acted for Social Services in Public Interest Immunity applications.
