Nicola Pearce undertakes a range of common law work including family, criminal, personal injury and general civil law. Based in Bournemouth her work is predominantly on the Western Circuit. Family links in London and Bristol mean she is also happy to work from our premises in these two areas.
Nicola’s family law practice includes both private and public law children work, ancillary relief, injunction and committal proceedings and property disputes relating to unmarried couples.
Her criminal practice involves appearances on behalf of both defendants and prosecuting authorities including the Crown Prosecution Service, National Probation Service, DWP, HM Revenue & Customs and Dorset Police.
Experience of family law involving domestic violence provides a useful overlap with those cases where such violence becomes the subject of criminal proceedings. Conversely, knowledge of criminal law and procedure assists when dealing with family cases in which parties are or have been through the criminal justice system. Similarly, her understanding of civil procedure and practice proves helpful when dealing with quasi-criminal matters in the civil courts such as detention and forfeiture applications under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
In addition to family and crime, Nicola’s practice comprises cases involving personal injury, landlord and tenant and contractual and tortious disputes, both on the Small Claims and Fast Tracks. She has also appeared in proceedings before the Coroner’s Court.
