Nicola Martin (formerly Nicola Simpson) is Head of the Family Law Team in chambers.
Nicola was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in July 1982 and has extensive experience in both Matrimonial / Ancillary Relief and Child Law.
Principal areas of practice:- Ancillary Relief, Private and Public Law Children, including leave to remove cases and Child Abduction
Nicola appears in high net worth matters as well as those of more modest means and displays both sound judgment and an eye for detail. Nicola has the ability to engage with people from all walks of life, her reassuring presence and empathetic approach instilling confidence in lay and professional clients alike. An adept negotiatorand able advocate, Nicola is also a tenacious cross-examiner.
Her experience in matrimonial matters extends to Divorce, Nullity, Foreign Decrees and Financial Injunctions as well as acting for applicants and respondents in issues arising from Proceeds of Crime legislation.
Nicola has particular experience in Children Law, both public and private, bringing a pragmatic but human approach to those embroiled in difficult proceedings involving children and family breakdown. She acts for local authorities, mothers, fathers, Children's Guardians and other family members such as grandparents and step-parents. Many of her cases have involved allegations of serious sexual, physical or emotional abuse of children or alcohol/substance abuse.
