Nancy Dooher has over a decade of experience of insolvency and commercial litigation. She is recognised as a leading junior by Chambers and Partners Directory in both 2007 and 2008 and is described as: 'a highly respected junior on contractual disputes and insolvency'.

Nancy is instructed by leading international law firms as well as specialist niche firms. In the Insolvency field she has acted for hundreds of office-holders, directors, debtors, creditors and banks in a wide range of applications. In the commercial field, she is an experienced and confident trial advocate, accustomed to complex, high value litigation. As a Pegasus Scholar, Nancy worked in leading commercial law firms in Bermuda and the U.S.A. Nancy provides specialist advocacy, drafting and advice in the following areas:

  • Corporate insolvency: all aspects of administration and the workings of Schedule B1, liquidations, voluntary arrangements and receiverships, directors’ duties, 236 applications, misfeasance and the avoidance provisions under IA86
  • Personal insolvency: all aspects of bankruptcy and IVAs, the realisation of bankruptcy assets including any share in the matrimonial home
  • Commercial litigation: especially contractual disputes, securities, sale of goods, partnership disputes, the use of interim remedies such as freezing orders to safeguard assets
  • Company law: shareholder disputes, protecting minority rights, derivative actions, litigation arising out of the 'whitewash' provisions
  • Directors disqualification: including the interaction with related criminal proceedings against directors
