Christopher Parker joined 3PB in 1988 after 9 years service in the Royal Navy, in the latter part of which he was called to the Bar (1986).

His work covers all aspects of criminal conduct. His experience is founded particularly on cases involving:

  • Murder, attempted murder, soliciting to murder
  • Manslaughter
  • Serious sexual offences, contemporary and historical
    (A high proportion of the most serious violent and sexual offences have involved young children as defendants, complainants or witnesses).
  • Marine accidents
  • Robbery, violence, arson, blackmail
  • People trafficking and immigration fraud (with covert surveillance operations)
  • Drug smuggling and supply (again, involving substantial covert operations)
  • Money laundering
  • Fraud

Recent cases

Defence in trial of four Royal Marines charged with murder of sailor in a bar.

Prosecution of parents of infant presenting with shaken baby syndrome. Issues as to whether injuries were inflicted by deliberate or accidental act, and if deliberate as to identity of perpetrator.

Defence. Historical sexual abuse of three generations of children over a forty year period. Prolonged campaigns of rape and buggery.

Prosecution of man charged with murder of his elderly mother-in-law by kicking.

Five-handed prosecution of travelling roofers re-visiting pensioner in his home, and torturing him to death in order to make him give up his savings.

HMS Tireless Inquest: 6 week inquest into deaths of two RN sailors killed in explosion onboard submarine during under ice operations in the Arctic Ocean. Representing company responsible for facilitating Safety Case Report commissioned 6 years before the accident. Multiple complex issues over causation.

Defending one of two parents charged with child sexual abuse and bestiality offences. Diverse cut-throat arguments re duress and abuse of process argued by co-accused.

Prosecution - attempted murder by stamping.

Prosecution of defendant charged with fracturing his baby son’s skull by shaking or throwing.

Defence – defendant charged with assisting three co-accused during a pre-meditated murder which was allegedly committed in course of a Kurdish feud.

Prosecution of Officer of the Watch of cross-channel ferry charged with manslaughter and breach of duty under s58 Merchant Shipping Act 1995. Alleged to have failed to render assistance to three sailors following near miss/collision with a yacht in the English Channel.

Prosecution. Rape and attempted murder of lone female runner on heathland.

Defence of building site manager in Health and Safety Executive prosecution. Defendant was charged with conspiring to pervert course of public justice by falsifying documents in the aftermath of a crippling site accident.

Prosecution of amateur boat-builder charged with manslaughter by gross negligence. Hungarian assistant burned to death inside yacht during amateur lead-smelting operations.

Christopher led the defence team at the Ecocide [the environmental equivalent of genocide] mock trial held on the 30th September 2011 at the Supreme Court. The trial dealt with the offence of ecocide and examined how the crime of Ecocide protects the Earth Right to Life and was tried as though the proposed crime of Ecocide has been adopted by the UN.
